Mapping Temperature Across California

Interpolation Using Inverse Distance Weighting

Using data from weather stations across California, along with Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) tools in ArcGIS Pro, estimated temperatures for the entirety of the state were calculated. IDW assumes that the variable being mapped, in this case temperature, decreases in influence the further it gets from the sample point. Weather stations in California were used as sample points to calculate estimates for areas without discrete data.
